On November 8, 2003 at 8:13 pm (Eastern/NY Time) we will have the opportunity to sound together and anchor in new interdimensional energies at a and climactic moment in the Earth's history.
Due to this powerful time, we felt it important to co-create PROJECT OM, a Webcast on World Puja using our Sound, Light and Love to assist in anchoring these new energies for personal and planetary healing and transformation.
A bit further down in this article will some further information about the astrological configuration that is creating this interdimensional window, which is being called Harmonic Concordance, a time schedule for this event and other pertinent data about this day and time. We would, like to immediately focus upon the sound we will be creating for PROJECT OM.
Before we begin these few paragraphs on the sound, we would like to refer you to the other articles found on this “Planetary Healing Sounds” page. Many of them were initially created for World Sound Healing Day—Feb. 14th or other world sounding events. Nevertheless the information found in them (written by myself and other colleagues) is both relevant and important. Please read them.
Without being too obvious, the sound that we will be co-creating for PROJECT OM will indeed be an “OM” sound. The OM is an ancient Sanskrit mantra—what many believe to be the initial primordially vibration of creation—the “Word” that was “In the beginning”.
I would like to share with you some material from the liner notes of my recording “ULTIMATE OM” (Spirit Music):
Of all the sacred sounds on this planet, the one that is most often chanted is the “OM”. Undoubtedly, at any given moment, there is someone, somewhere chanting this sacred mantra. The “OM ” is considered one of the oldest vocal sounds in existence—many speculate that it has been chanted for untold thousands of years. It is considered to be the original, primordial sound—the mantra of creation.
OM is a mantra from the Hindu tradition. OM is a Sanskrit word, which is said to be the original primordial creative sound from which the universe and all of creation first manifested. While pronounced “OM”, certain Sanskrit scholars state that it is written as “AUM”. Many consider the two words to be interchangeable because of this. OM is said to be the sound that contains all sounds--it is the totality of all other sounds. Swami Sivananda Radha says “The cosmic sound AUM, or its condensed form, OM, is the origin of all other sound. OM is everything. It is the name of God.”
OM is a multi-dimensional sound, and as such, may be understood a number of different ways. One understanding is that OM (or it’s written form “AUM”) represents attributes of the major trinity of Hindu gods; Brhaman, Vishnu and Shiva. The sounding of the “A” represents the energy of Brahman, the creator and the creational process. The middle portion of the sound, the “U” represents the energy of Vishnu, the preserver and relates to the maintenance and preservation of what has been created. The final “M” represents the energy of Shiva, the transformer and relates to the vital transformational energy to shift and change that which has been created and preserved.
Another understanding of the OM (or “AUM”) is that the “A” represents the physical plane, the “U” the “mental and astral planes” and the “M, all that is beyond the reach of the intellect. “AUM” or OM is the initial syllable which begins almost all mantras. Thus OM represents the Infinite, the One Mind, the all embracing consciousness—that which is the very essence of existence.
In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, the OM (“AUM”) represents different aspects of the trinity of the Body, Speech and Mind of the Buddha, or an enlightened being. The “A” represents the Body, the “U” represents Speech, and the “M” represents the Mind. Sounding the AUM in this manner puts one in resonance with these qualities of consciousness.
For PROJECT OM, we will chant the OM is a Bija (or “seed”) mantra and may be utilized to resonate the third eye. However, it may also be chanted as a 3 syllable word “AUM” (and pronounced as “AH – OH” - MMM”) to resonate the heart, the throat and the crown chakras. As we begin, the “AH” vibrates and resonates in the heart center. This is the center of love and compassion. As we continue with the sound, we resonate the “OH” in the throat center, the chakra of communication. We conclude this sound with the “MMM” resonating first in our third eye chakra (in our forehead) and finally in our crown chakra chakra (at the top of the head). These head centers ultimately lead to our connection with the divine.
In additional, as we feel this resonance in our different centers, it is ideal to broadcast a beam of energy from the chakra we are resonating outwards to the planet. Thus, when you are vibrating the “AH” sound in your heart center, it is ideal to feel not only the resonance within yourself, but also consciously project this resonance from your heart out to the planet. The same is true with the “OH” sound in the throat center and the “MMM” sound in the crown center.
Please note however, that the sounding of the OM is not meant to be a difficult or cerebral practice—sounding a mantra is designed to take you out of your thoughts and put you in touch with your feelings and higher self. Thus, you might experiment with sounding the OM in this manner—resonating your different chakras while projecting sound from them. If this feel comfortable and works easily for you, please incorporate it into your sonic practice. But if you have any difficulty doing this aspect of sounding OM, please ignore the above paragraph and simply generate the sound, projecting the energy of love and compassion onto the sound as you make it.
Remember, your “Intent” is extremely important when making the sound. There are several articles about projecting feelings, visualization and intent onto sound. To quote again from “ULTIMATE OM”:
In my book, HEALING SOUNDS, there are two formulas, which I have since utilized in the creation of all my recordings. The first formula is: “FREQUENCY + INTENT = HEALING”. This means that the intent of the sound couple with the actual frequency (the sound itself) that occurs will truly affect and influence the effect of the sound. The other formula is: “VOCALIZATION + VISUALIZATION = MANIFESTATION”. This means that a vocalized sound when coupled with a visualization (an image, a thought or a feeling) will influence and affect the created outcome of the sound. Both of these formulas are very similar and they demonstrate how profound the combination of both the sound and the energy that we put into the sound can be.
The OM can, through our intent, become a multi-purpose mantra with capabilities of resonating and aligning all the chakras—of cleansing imbalanced energies and purifying self. Sung with sincerity and devotion, vocalization of the OM can put the chanter in touch with the source of all creation, providing a bridge between the spiritual and physical dimensions and opening the way for inspirational contact with higher realms and beings.
Please note that regardless of how you decide to chant the “OM”, sounding together in groups can only assist both personal and planetary activation. As stated in other articles, we feel that the Internet represents a cybernetic neural net of the planet—a Global Mind, if you like. Because of this, we believe it is extremely important to activate the Global Heart of the planet. Sound is the key in order to do this. Sound and the throat chakra is the connecting link between the mind and the heart. Thus sounding together through events like PROJECT OM on World Puja will activate the Global Heart through Global Sound.
We would like to suggest that if possible, you get together with others at 8:00 pm Eastern Time on November 8th, in order to sound together with intent for PROJECT OM.
