Many of you who have read my books and other writings, or found yourself listening to or reading an interview with me know that I believe “Intent” is a truly important aspect with regard to the power of sound. You may know that over 20 years ago, I created a formula in my first book HEALING SOUNDS : “Frequency + Intent = Healing”. By this I mean that the actual sound that manifests coupled with the consciousness that is encoded upon the sound creates the ultimate effect of the sound. I also included another formula in the book: “Vocalization + Visualization = Manifestation” which pretty much echoed this same concept in a slightly different way. In my latest book THE 7 SECRETS OF SOUND HEALING , I have created yet another formula—one which again is very similar to the other two and seems to encompass even more. It is this: “Sound + Belief = Outcome”.
As those familiar with my work know, the original “Frequency + Intent = Healing” formula came to me while trying to deal with a collection of papers that stacked a foot high. These papers were different systems I’d been collecting for several years from scientists, spiritual teachers, musicians, sound therapists and just about anyone else imaginable who had been working with using frequencies for healing. I had hundreds of different systems for the organs, for the chakras, for just about anything you can conceive. It was all quite wondrous, except for the fact that a majority of the systems didn’t agree with each other—to put it musically, they were not harmonious. Scientist X would be using one frequency for a condition. Scientist Y would be using a totally unrelated frequency for the same condition. Both claiming success. Spiritual Master A would use one mantra for a chakra. Spiritual Master B would use a different mantra for the same chakra or even more confusing, the same mantra for a different chakra. I remember being in a state of great intellectual angst and confusion. I asked : How could this be?:
I remember sitting in front of my computer with my head in my heads trying to figure out some sort clarity, when I distinctly heard a voice which said: “It is not only the frequency of the sound which creates the effect, it is also the intention of the person projecting and receiving the sound.” I wrote down the formula: “Frequency + Intent = Healing”. To this day, I am a firm believer in the validity of this and all the other formulas that have manifested.
This is not to say that I am not a seeker of knowledge with regard to the physiological effects of sound, whether it’s the binaural beat frequency phenomenon or anything else that might manifest. Certainly there is validity in this. And it is something that any student of sound healing needs to be aware of. Do you understand how sound effects of nervous systems? Do you understand the different chemicals that are released in the extraordinary pharmacy that is our body due to the effects of different sounds?
There’s a reason that sound is so powerful and some of it is due to its frequency (which is truly a metaphor for the physical counterpart of sound—we could be talking about vocal tones or harmonics or mantras or anything that creates a resonance). But from my knowledge and experience, something else is also occurring with regard to sound.
Call it “intent”, or “visualization” or “feeling” or “belief”—there is another component to sound that is also responsible for its effect. I’ve written extensively on this subject and would ask those interested to check out my various writings. From my understanding when dealing with life on the Earth plane, it is the combination of both the “Frequency” + the “Intent” that creates the “Healing” (or whatever outcome you desire for the sound). I think it’s a 50/50% equation here for most of us.
But I also perceive that for some highly advanced individuals, the frequency—the actual sound—may be less important than the consciousness they project into the sound. As an example, there may be saints in various places throughout the world who can make a tone in a less that mellifluous voice and achieve all sorts of miracles. But I think these may be highly evolved individuals. Unless you can walk thought walls, levitate and do all sorts of other “siddhis”, it probably is best to utilize the 50/50% equation of the formula using equally both “frequency + intent”.
I would very much like to engage you in a discussion—with you sharing your experiences and stories with regard to the importance of intent—visualization, belief, feeling—whatever you want to call that special energy that is encoded upon the sounds we make and the sounds we receive.
I could share pages of stories with you, but this is not my purpose. It is simply to open up this blog to comments on “The Power of Intent”. Please share you stories with us—whether they affirm the validity of intent or not. I believe it’s important.
With regard to your stories I ask that for those who have encountered the miraculous (and no doubt many have—that seems to be the nature of sound and why we are so drawn to working with it), I’d love to hear your experiences about this. But I’m hopeful we can disassociate ourselves from whatever experiences we may have had, realizing that being part of the experience does not make us the creator of the experience. Remember, the Prayer of St. Francis that asks: “Lord, make me an instrument….”. Being a conduit for the divine is not the same as being the Divine. It’s important that we honor this so that we can truly honor the power of sound and “The Power of Intent”.
In conclusion, I’d like to quote my dear friend Sarah “Saruah” Benson, who many years ago when we were looking for a logo for the Sound Healers Associations, told me: “The true sound of healing is Love”. I couldn’t agree more.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
I practice qigonq, energy healing, and am a self taught musician. . In qigong circles intent is refered to as mental force.. Many of the principles and relationships i discovered on my musical journey were of great help when applying concepts to qigong and energy healing.
All forms of meditation are made up of some or all of the following : Mind ,Sound, posture and breath.. I have noticed for instance, that when i generate vibrational energy.i can direct it with intent to an area in the body. Sound is a vibration, and can also be directed with intent.
I have discovered Mantras to be extreemly interesting. Some are especially designed to create energy movement in the body. I would like to share one with you here.Do not be concerned with its origin..The benifit is in the practice. The mantra is…MEN TSJJH (prounounced like cha with the Ts sounded )
The Men is a head sound done with the mouth closed. The Tsjjh is released like a sigh.
When practiced properly it creates a downward energy movement in the body.
The interesting thing about these type of practices is that after awhile all you need is the intent to create the movement(and maybe a little breath)
I have also discovered through my practices that internal energy can have its freqency raised and lowered by intent. To me it always spirals anti clockwise as it rises up and down.
All facinating tools that help us discover our multidimentiality from within
Thanks for your response, Andrew. I know there’s so much more than breathing, but it is a very potent dualistic tool we can all use to go beyond duality, just another paradox!
Your story about the chain-smoking Huichol shaman reminded me of three of my own similar stories about intent.
The first was very recent and involved a chain-smoking Shinto nun. She asked me for bodywork and an astrological reading. I felt like she was using the bodywork experience as a way to tune into me more than for herself. After I gave her her reading, she immediately gave ME one! At one point during the reading I gave her, during which she wanted to know if she would have a man in her life (!), she was asked by her friend, a client of mine who had connected us and who was translating, if she was aware that she would have to give up her status as a nun if she got a man. She heartily said “Sure!”. This woman was SO real! No pretense and fully embodied. I’ve noticed this as a common trait in the few evolved people who have touched me directly.
Another story was courtesy Rosalyn Bruyere the famous “healer” who told us in a class that when she studied with a certain Native American elder, she was always expected to bring an offering. At the elder’s request she brought him Little Debbie snack cakes which he loved!
Finally, I have a friend who is a world known Buddhist vegan chef who was once asked to cook for the Dalai Llama. My friend brought the food while the Dalai Llama waited to speak before a conference. The Dalai Llama thanked him but said he’d prefer eating after he spoke. So, my friend sat down next to him and thought this was his chance to small talk with the Dalai Llama.
“So, what’s the meaning of life?” he asked (small talk…). The Dalai Llama stroked his chin while seriously considering the question. He reached into his robe and pulled out…two Tootsie Pops! He gestured to my friend to take one and my friend thought “Hey, I asked the question and this IS the Dalai Llama, so why not?”
They sucked on the pops for five minutes without a word being exchanged. Finally, my friend was asked to take it out. “How is it?” the Dalai Llama asked.
“Well, its burning my mouth…the sugar and the artificial flavoring. I don’t like it.” my friend responded through a yuck face.
“OK. Let’s do some more.” said the Dalai Llama. Five more minutes passed during which there was a knock on the door and the Dalai Llama was summoned to make his speech. “Just a minute, please. ” he said “I’m answering a very important question.”
Once again, the Dalai Llama asked my friend “How is it?”
This time, the response was “Well, I’m getting used to it. Its not so bad.”
The Dalai Llama considered the response, arose, and told my friend “I guess that answers your question. Thank you for the food. I must go speak.” and bowed and left.
My friend said it took him two years to realize that he was being told that it didn’t matter what you did as much as the intent you do it with.
Shortly after he realized what he was told, he was invited to a wedding in Wisconsin. He was telling us this story at his vegan restaurant and someone gasped “Oh no! You didn’t eat BRATS?!”
“Of course I did!” he replied. “They were offered to me in love and it would have been much more toxic for me to arrogantly refuse than to eat them with love. At home, where I HAD other choices, I’d MAKE other choices.”
I’ll never forget that story.
Love,
Meho
Om Namah, Meho…..
Your experience with the sound and breathwork corroborates experiences of my own.I was trained by the Grof team at Esalen in the 80’s. The breathwork was amazing in resolving age old patterns,pari-natal,pre-natal and past life ‘samskaric’ material but, it was only when I combined the sound with the breathing that the deeper layers began to fade.I believe that breath and sound are indelibly interwoven to effectively transform conciousness in a lasting way and paired together, the shift is grounding as well as full.
At some point,as you say, intention follows one around.Presumably,’Maha Siddhas’ are in that state, where their will is the Way and proceeds from them as the sun rises and sets, as a natural unfolding of the love.Intention, then would not be a separate activity coming from the heart, but everything that one was….. that we truly are now, this moment.
Blessings to you in the work you are doing. It is all One.What each of us do now is not just for ourself any more.It pushes all creation ahead in this incredible evolution that is happening.

Greetings,
I’ve been doing breath centered bodywork for 18 years. Over a decade ago I serendipitously met a didgeridoo player and was able to experience that instruments sound. I immediately asked him to play into me while I did my Reichian breathing and I discovered that the sound had the same effect that I’d been getting through deep bodywork combined with the breathing.
Eventually I found crystal bowls and gongs had similar effects, but only if I did the breathing. So, I started to wonder if was like a dance. The bodywork or the sound would “loosen” armoring, stuck energy, and the breathing would both resonate with the sound and carry away the energy that was stuck. As the energy began to flow, it would draw more energy in, VIBRANT energy, and this would create a circuit that flowed through the body often creating a spontaneous full-bodied vibration that Reich called the orgasm reflex.
Somehow, the breathing is, or is part of, the intention. I always felt like my clients needed to breath, needed to initiate their own part in the “healing” process. It seemed to create an opening and a pathway simultaneously. I could sometimes “get through” to them if I did my own breathing which I now ALWAYS do very audibly during sessions, but when THEY breathed it was MUCH more powerful. I believe they would “tune into” what I was doing when I breathed and they opened up a bit, but when THEY initiated it themselves, they were putting their own intent into the experience…their intent synergistically resonated with mine to create an exponential effect.
I know that my goal is to be able to radiate pure love and have that affect everyone without any specific intent on my part. It would be me simply being. But, as you say, Jonathan, almost all of us are not there yet! Maybe, intent is nothing but a tool we use to put ourselves into a temporary state of realtive pure love. I dunno. I will say that my work with clients seems to be my meditation, my practice. It’s a bit like cooking a beautiful meal for someone else as opposed to for myself alone. I get much more joy out of the shared experience.
Love,
Meho

Aloha,
Intention is the “moving towards” what it is that we desire. In our Hawaiian practices, this is a most important element and awareness of how we think act. Chants that are orally handed down for generations are also a key element in diseminating the intention on the vibrational currents to the many dimensions within and without. These chants and rituals are carefully held with great respect and honoring and are used only for specific reasons. The most noted practitioners are those who had a deep connection and knowledge of the power of sound/frequency.
“Intenders of the Highest Good” was conceived on the Big Island of Hawaii over 25+ yrs. ago by a group who had come together for growth and community. The process is simple and powerful. We gather and express:
1. Gratitude: express whatever iit is that we are grateful for
2. Set Intentions: Intend whatever we desire “For the Highest Good of the Universe”
3. TONE: In a circle we place all our intentions and tone them out/in to be manifested.
This simple process has been a wonderful way to build community and experience this timeless ritual of manifestation. I have once a month Intender’s Circle and do this process every morning with my husband.
I would highly recommentd this process to everyone for it has greatly enriched my life and others. http://www.intenders.com

MUSIC FOR PEACE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzaAr-EeLPk&feature=channel
PEACE ON EARTH AND IN EVERYONES HEART!
Intention is so important in everything we do from when we speak and write about. My intention is to help people heal through my art. My intention in life is to offer my love, kindness and happiness as a source of love to the world.
Sounds do speak to our hearts, without music we would be silenced.
Thank you for sharing your message.

Thanks for Clarifying that Amy. I like the clear mind reference too. I most often am trying to surrender my ego to allow true intent to come through as well. I start with words like compassion, gratitude, etc. but eventually if I am really listening clearly, I transcend what is quantifiable by words. Benevolent Spirit!
It reminds me of something that Jonathan once said about true listening or something to that effect. Basically, when we are all singing together, we aren’t truly listening if we only hear ourselves.
Thanks again for your follow-up!

Before answering John’s question below I’d like to acknowledge the limitations our language places on our communication process. Each and every word we use, whether it be love, consciousness, intent, belief, healing, power, etc. carries with it infinite interpretations based upon each of our personal experiences. So it becomes impossible to accurately translate the depth of our understandings and awareness of each ‘concept’ through the written word. This is another reason music can be such a powerful and pure form of communication, because it can bypass the mind and reach deep inside a person’s heart, spirit and soul.
Question from John Tone
You state that you had no intention when recording your Magic Mirror CD. Do you think it could have been even more powerful if you had an intention? Would you consider re-recording it now that you know some of it’s benefits? In your redux you could add an extra helping of intention and maybe see even greater results:)
By it’s very definition, ‘intent’ means ‘the act of intending’ and ‘intending’ means ‘to have in mind as something to be done or brought about.’ So, when I stated that I had no intention when recording “The Magic Mirror” I literally meant that I was in a state where my mind was silent, my heart was completely open, and my energy was connected to my highest self (which is connected to ALL, the Field, Universal Consciousness, Divine Love, whatever word you use to describe that energy) which opened the door for a very high vibration of love to flow through me. Some refer to this state as a ‘hollow bone.’ I will NEVER be able to re-record “The Magic Mirror” again in that same way because it was a stream of consciousness for that moment. If my lower ‘thought/mind’ energy were engaged, that would totally alter the vibration of the information/love/whatever word you want to use, traveling on the sound waves and the effects would be different. In my opinion, the results would not be as dramatic simply because my ‘mind, thoughts, intent’ are limiting. I know that sounds a bit counter-intuitive but if I’m holding the ‘intent’ to help you ‘balance and heal,’ there is no way my limited perspective of what those words mean could create the ‘vibrational highway’ open and clear enough to allow for the full potential of that energy to manifest within the listener. It is only through releasing the thoughts of the mind that the full potential of the vibration can be manifested.
Which leads into this statement by Angela Benson:
It may be that the aspect of Intent is not merely an indication of how the spiritual interfaces with the sound, but how our belief system also does. This connection of our belief system is truly an indication of the mind/body connection….
I’d like to take this a step further and say that ‘clear intent’ which literally means ‘clear of the mind’ happens when the artist, musician, painter, etc., surrenders that ‘mind, ego’ part of themselves over to their higher self and allows that higher energy to manifest through them. To reach such a state of surrender requires not only a connection between the mind and body but also a connection between one’s spiritual belief and creative action. When these four areas of our personal energies are balanced within our convictions, perception, compassion and purpose, then we stand at the still point where, from deep within our spirit, we awaken, remembering our gift, uniting all parts of our Being and celebrating that Oneness with others through those creative expressions that connect each of us to one another though love.
I also agree with Angela that: We are not the first to realize the healing power of music. It’s been known about since ancient times. However, it’s important in these modern situations where the sound and music is being “tested”, to realize that the focus should be less on the results of that particular music (which often gives the creator of the music the opinion that they have “the” healing music, which can lead to some really unnecessary hype) and more simply on giving thanks that they had the opportunity to have their music tested in a situation which met some sort of scientific criteria–showing that sound and music does indeed have healing capabilities. Thus, enhancing the receptivity of using sound and music in more traditional medical situations.
The whole reason we established the Scientific Arts Foundation was to expand a paradigm within our society and remind ourselves that everyone has the ability to creatively express that which they love…whether it’s through music, dance, poetry, cooking, gardening, listening, etc. Each creative act builds a vibrational highway of loving connection that sympathetically resonates and ‘wakes up’ that love within the listener/recipient. I have been extremely blessed to have found doctors willing to listen to these concepts and explore the possibilities through scientific measurements. My hope for our particular research study is that it manifests results beyond expectations so that we all, as a sound music community, can use it as a door opener. I am very clear that this research is not about me or Steven Halpern (we’re also using part of his Comfort Zone piano CD). This research is for everyone in that we want to help create a language for communicating within the medical field, supported by pictures, graphs and statistics, the potential power of sound and music for healing.
This is such an important subject since the Power of Intent seems to be coming more and more into the consciousness of the mainstream population. It may be that the aspect of Intent is not merely an indication of how the spiritual interfaces with the sound, but how our belief system also does. This connection of our belief system is truly an indication of the mind/body connection. So many scientific experiments have shown how the “placebo” effect is extremely important–to such a degree that surgeries have been performed with one surgeon doing the actual operation and the other merely doing some minor cutting and stiching–yet the outcome of these surgeries have been the same. Simply amazing! And something to really be explored!
It’s also important to understand that the more and more we discover about tones and music that are being examined by the scientific and medical community, the more we will be amazed at the outcome of the effects of this music. Those few people who have had the opportunity to have the “healing” effects of their sounds and music examined by the scientific community, whether it be Mozart or New Age or some other form of soothing music, have usually found amazing results demonstrated by people experiencing their music. From one perspective, this is to be applauded. From another perspective, this is also to be expected. We are not the first to realize the healing power of music. Bravo to everyone involved in this extraordinary world of sound and music and all the potential aspects of this, from Intent to Frequency to whatever.
I am new at using my intent, so I generally ask Jahweh or Shamael or someone whom I presume knows better, to take my sound and put it in the right place when I tone. My intent when toning is usually one of the following: Gratitude, Compassion, Trust, Surrender, Healing…
However, I often think of other smaller personalized intentions and colors as well.
I think intention is incredibly important to have when creating and healing. The intention of and during recordings should also be thoroughly good lest we create timeless pieces of bad intent. I was listening to a record the other day thinking about the intent of the singer and musicians and it seemed that I was subjecting myself to a wash of bad emotions and disappointment.
We all need to focus on taking more responsibility for our feelings and their projections to the world around us. I myself am to blame for being angry in traffic or condescending in classes.
Since the idea of using our intent to manifest change through sound, I am much more mindful of the energy that I express. I am getting better at only emitting good intent, but still have a ways to go:)
I have a question for Amy Camie:
You state that you had no intention when recording your Magic Mirror CD. Do you think it could have been even more powerful if you had an intention? WOuld you consider re-recording it now that you know some of it’s benefits? In your redux you could add an extra helping of intention and maybe see even greater results:)
p.s.
and of course this prayer and meditation becomes the song that is created and sung in the moment of the opening ~ in the Now. For me, the song may come to life by toning, instrumental, singing, art, hand mudras, mantras, working through crystals. It is all very in the moment intuition, this place where the communications happen in my experience whether with people, animals, crystals, plants, spirit, dreaming…to be open to the Now of the beautiful moment. At times in the beauty of nature, I get a nudge from what is around me to sing…to affirm the presence of the spirit of nature by responding to that nudge…intention being gratitude for all that is present, intention to be a constant walking healing dancer in tune to the subtle nudges. Thank you all for your healing roles in all its beautiful diversity. Namaste.
I feel for me the intention and focus lies in the questioning which is also a meditation and a prayer “where do we meet on common ground?” or “please, may I see the me that is in you and the you that is in me”.. with this intention, as above so below is possible manifest in the being a vessel of love and healing as a divine bridge to make the thorough connection.
Namaste.
Thank you, Jonathan for letting all of us communicate together through your blogs. My intent through clients is to allow each one of them to find themselves in emotional, spiritual, physical and mental (that I call oracle) states of being. Their choice of their own keynote, their own chord and their own emotive word is made by playing an audible matrix of pure harmonic and sub-harmonic sounds. Those who come to play their own song may be in a very depressed state, at the end of 15 minutes they are filed with joy. Others, may remember their past lives while playing. Still others may answer their own unspoken questions on any subject. sometimes a sinus condition or a physical pain is relieved. In most cases the auras become vibrant and a raising of their own consciousness is the result.
The power of intention is undoubtedly, one of the most important components involved in the sound healing experience. In working with students in workshops , the other aspect which I stress,is self awareness. When one can minimize their own needs in the equation and “get out of the way”to be a conduit of energy,a healing outcome is more likely. The term ‘clarity’ comes to mind.We all have personal issues to work with, but our ability to go beyond the limitations of the mind, and allow ourself to just “be’,with great intent present, is very powerful.
Now,as to the power of intent itself; sound healer,Tom Kenyon quoted a healer by the name of Candace Blakely, and she said,”Tom,I’ve worked with cancer for years and years, and I believe that if the intention was clear enough,we could sit down with somebody who has terminal cancer, smoke a cigarette and drink a cup of coffee, and have a spontaneous healing”.This statement places intention at the core of the healing experience and one has to leave room for such a reality to be valid. If we are truly ‘One’, then the methodology is just the carrier for ‘That’which transcends time and space. My own experience with someone who lived this concept, goes back to a workshop many years ago where I was the student.I was attending this seminar given by an old Huichol shaman.I was listening closely to the teaching, but I couldn’t help noticing that this old man was as alert as a deer and twice as frisky.I also observed that he frequently went outside to smoke. On one occasion I followed him outside.I came up to him as he was taking a lung full from a hand rolled cigarette and asked,”how is it that you can constantly smoke tobacco and remain so present, alive, and shining?” He said without hesitation,”with every puff,I say a prayer”.I am not making a case for smoking, but only to use this extreme example as a way to convey how important intention and awareness is to every concious activity.
I believe that a healer, before assisting anyone else with their healing, must heal himself/herself,daily to be “empty” enough to truly benefit another. In my workshops I offer A sound/breath yoga that internally solidifies intent, so that certainty of intention flows outward from the core of one’s being without the interference of the “monkey” mind. Love must certainly be the lubricant of intent, whether it be one’s own healing process or another’s.

Hello,
My name is Amy Camie. I’m a professional harpist from St. Louis, Missouri and the Founder/Executive Director of the Scientific Arts Foundation. I normally do not respond to these types of forums but this is a topic that is very near to my heart. For the past 10 years, I have been blessed to work with a licensed psychologist and neurotherapist, William Collins, Ph.D., who has conducted several brainwave pilot studies with my music. The two I would like to share here helped me clarify my understanding of ‘intent’ and ‘beyond intent’.
When I recorded the “New Love-awaken to yourself” CD for my father after his prostate cancer diagnosis, my ‘intent’ was to help him relax and heal after surgery. The studio felt like a sanctuary, my heart was completely open and the love for my father was riding on the sound waves of the music. Our QEEG pilot studies with this CD, indicated that it indeed induced a state of relaxation in the listeners in four minutes by increasing alpha wave frequencies and decreasing beta wave frequencies in the brain.
Then, seven years later I had a completely different experience. My husband showed me some ancient healing chants and I heard music. Let me clarify…the music literally possessed me…doing dishes, driving the car, going to bed at night…these melodies would not leave. I’m sure this experience is familiar to many of you but this was my first. I didn’t want to write anything down because I didn’t want to ‘freeze’ the energy into a note that would always be played the same way, because it was so alive. I did the next best thing and went into the studio to record these melodies…with no intent…no attachment to the outcome…just open. That recording became, “The Magic Mirror-Inspired Reflections” and the pilot studies we’ve conducted with this CD are incredible.
Our QEEG pilot indicated that listening to this 23 minute CD once a day for ten days INCREASED neurological functioning in four women undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer and they reported feeling less anxious, more able to focus and more relaxed. These results were so impressive to Dr. Collins that we believe we may be addressing the chemotherapy side effect known as ‘chemobrain’ with music.
Our saliva sample pilot studies indicated a sustained positive impact on immune system biomarkers for up to 72 hours in healthy individuals after listening to the music once.
It appears that the ‘information’ riding on the sound waves of this music is supporting the listener in their personal healing/rebalancing process – everyone is different but they are receiving exactly what they need.
The Scientific Arts Foundation has written a full medical protocol for 120 newly diagnosed cancer patients and we’ve received IRB approval – this review process makes us an official clinical trial. I share all of this with you because this research is not about “The Magic Mirror” CD; this research is about the process that I went through to allow this CD to manifest. And I know this process is familiar to many of you.
As the artist, I know that the ‘information’ traveling on the sound waves of this music is Divine Love…and the ‘information’ traveling on the sound waves of “New Love” was more my love for my father. It’s all love, but varying frequencies of it. So, in essence, with the manifestation of this clinical trial (which created itself over the past 10 years) we are on the verge of quantifying the physiological, psychological, and neurological impact of Love.

The Nature of Intent
As “healers” I think it is very important to look at the nature of our intent.
Basically we are trying to second guess the will of God.
This way of thinking, to say the least, is purely subjective since every individual has their own spin on how God thinks and what should be the final outcome of this process.
I feel the easiest way to resolve this issue is with prayer. First petition the Divine for help and then accept responsibility for your own actions. It also helps to have the understanding that; We are the first cause and the last effect of all our actions and What we put out will come back to us.
It is the nature of sound to work in a feedback loop and it is a matter of my own personal experience that eventually these sound energies do return to you since in essence you are the first cause and the last effect. The issue of how long it takes is up to you. You are basically living in a river that is flowing in many directions at the same time. To overly simplify it you can think of Kundalini energy, or whatever energy you choose to call it, as flowing in many directions at the same time. Depending on which chakeras are open at the time you are working on your client, will partially determine your underlying intent since all chakeras have their underlying energy signatures. These energy signatures of different chakeras can be changed by your personal understanding of their signatures. You are also using this energy to recombine with the sounds of your voice and with your personal intent as to the eventual outcome. The intent is part of the aliveness of consciousness that you are projecting into your client as you manipulate the will of the Divine. The God/Goddess that you are working on is also currently using energy to create a reality to stay the way they are. You as the healer are trying to help them go to the next level of understanding with their healing process. Healing as with many subjective realities is a long term process which uses many different energies to bring about a desired goal. Being healed is up to the soul of the client as to whether they are healed or not.
In reality you are healing yourself so be gentle while you learn to Love yourself and
Be in harmony with your understanding of the Divine intention.
Much Love

I work for over 20 years with sound and in 2005 a friend of mine was burned in a gas explosion- 70 % of his body which means for a 52 years old man as good as dead.
The doctor said to me that in his 30 year carreer he never saw a man surviving this state of Burning.
I got the permission to work in the Intensive Care- ER with him while he was kept in Coma for 3 weeks and i worked intensively with soundhealing . INTENTION and LOVE are basics to use.
Every minute, hour, day was critical ! I used my body as a channel for sound for more than 4 months !
I sang him out of Coma and the first thing i hear from his lips was the song i always sang to honor his spirit when i came and left the room while he was in Coma.
The doctors reported afterwards that this man healed 3 times faster than a 21 year old man.
Last month the man became father of a healthy daughter !
As a singer and sound healing practitioner, I have also found that the more deeply I ‘lose’ my small self in the ‘river of love’, the more profound the effect my ‘tones’ and music seem to have. However, since what I do is improvisational, one can hardly measure it scientifically. I love science, it is interesting, but I’m begining to belive that everything is made up anyway…haha! So if everything we do is creative we just might as well come from love to the best of our abilities! As I continue to see results, I move more deeply in to love. Learning and integration of helpful information is nessesary, however, when it comes to practise, the loving tones and sounds come first (whatever they sound like) and the information is secondary. Thank you for opening the conversation, Jonathan!
I have gone through similar stages of learning. My primary work is with runes (Old Norse writing and spiritual system). Most of the work I did was solely intention based. As I would carve the runes, I would focus on my intent, and visualize the outcome. The success of this was moderate, but still successful.
As time progressed, I realized I had been missing a key element, sound. Each rune has an energetic intention and a phonetic value. When I got over my own “shyness” and felt comfortable singing the runes, the energy really started to flow. I saw more of an immediate effect from my workings. I have enjoyed better health (weight loss), improved financial situation, even the publication of a book (Runes for Transformation) from applying these techniques I have learned.
One of the methods I teach is to have one notice where, in their body, they feel a vowel sound resonate. Such as “Oh” – O is felt lower in the abdomen and “eeee” – I is felt at the top of the head and “Ahh”- A is like the energy coming out from the mouth. When a person sings a rune, such as Othila, they observe how the energy moves in their body from low to high to middle. Thus algining the energy of their being with the energy and intention of the rune.
I think the use of sound+intention+visualization = manifestation is a sound concept (Pun intended). This is something the ancient Norse knew and used regularly. In fact they called this system “Galdr” – which means to sing or utter like a raven (certainly not the most melodious of voices).
